About the Adventurers

George Gaz:

OK so a little about me … I hate writing things like this, makes me feel that I am signing up to a dating site or something.

Erm …

OK so I am 24 and have lived in London for over two years now having moved down here a week after my final exam at uni.  I work at Digital Window Ltd. and have done for over a year and a half.  Office boy by day, wild, crazy, nuts adventurer by night (except, unfortunately for the ladies, I have no latex costume as of yet).

I would like to go travelling, see the world and all of that, however, I never really had the chance because I jumped from uni to a job and didn’t do that “South East Asia route” that all grads seem to do.  This is why I decided to embark on this nutters trip to India, it gives me a chance to unleash the adventurer and also see some great (and I am sure not so great) areas of the world.

My thirst for culture originally had me ready to do a trip whereby I would be driving from London to Mongolia in a dusty old banger (we had bought an F-Reg VW Golf for £50), however, this trip fell through but will be happening in the next couple of years!

PS that hat is not mine, I stole it from somebody and was wearing it because I was ridiculously drunk.  I am way cooler than a trilby!

Thoughts leading up to the trip:

I … cannot … wait.  I have been waiting and waiting for this trip since the plan started to  take shape in November 2008.  Eleven months in the making this is going to be one thing that I will never forget.

Doing crazy adventure stuff is no new thing to me so I think that I should be in a good place to survive in the wild and face anything that India is going to throw at me, including onion bhajis which I just love!

Sleeping rough and having to survive on the land is something that I have become accustomed to (to clear things up, I am not a hobo, despite the trilby and cider that I had drunk that night) and putting necessary skills into practice really gets me going.  Some people love to drink a cocktail in the sun with the latest copy of Closer but that just really doesn’t do it for me.  Where is the fun?  Where is the suspense?  Where is the danger?

Saying all that I bet I end up grazing my knee and turning back, all teary eyed …

Manon Baby, Yeah!:

What’s poppin’ off y’all?

So for those who don’t know me, I’m a 24-year-old baller from North London. After doing my thang at King-stoned University (Computing stuffs), I decided to pop over to the other side of the pond (USA, not South London) to try my hand at making some music.

I ended up composing and producing music for a number of artists, and also made a few showbiz buddies along the way. Inevitably, I came crashing back down to Earth – like Ma$e, after he realised he couldn’t be a Reverend and a Rapper in the same lifetime.

So now, back in Londres, I find myself working at Digital Window Ltd., in the Technical Services department (for now), but also dabbling in Quality Control. I love work, particularly ‘cos it’s like hangin’ with the homies all the time, plus you make money from it!

Manon Baby, YEAH!

Manon Baby, Yeah!

I was born in Harrow (despite my lack of skin-fade or spikes), but always traveled to India regularly as a kid. I even went to nursery there when I was really young. With that in mind, I think I’m going to find it a little bit easier than the other guys when it comes to adjusting to the climate, and just communicating in general – but I’ve always lived in luxury when I’ve been out there.

This time, it’s all gonna change. My goal for this trip is to really make it an adventure. See parts of the country I’ve never seen before, and live like those far less fortunate than us. Plus I just wanna get crunk on the local pimp juice (home-brew of course).

We may be sleeping in a tent, but there ain’t no tent like that Manon Dave tent…

Nilesh:

Also known as Baby Balls, or Bablesh or just Nilz.

I am 21 years old and have recently completed my politics and history degree at Brunel University. (Un)fortunately I am currently unemployed. However this has given me a great opportunity to revisit the country of my ancestors and embark on the adventure of a lifetime.

The most exciting factor of this trip is that it will be the first time in 8 WHOLE YEARS that I will be in India. So much has changed thanks to India’s rapid economic advances. However, I am more interested in seeing the real India, parts of the country that have not benefited from the boom.

I was born in North West London and have lived here ever since. I certainly need a change of scenery and climate.

Generally I enjoy all things sports and technology. The latter is one thing that I will sorely miss during this trip. I don’t think the video and digital cameras count!

George may relish the idea of sleeping rough but it’s something I have never done. But I do love driving and exploring, so sleeping rough is a trade-off I am more than willing to make.

My main aim for this trip is to clock up the most amount of miles!

Onwards…….
